Ultimately...why do Chi-Chi and Yamcha get such a bad rep among the fandom?

But Chichi has flatout stated that Gohan's studies are more important than the fate of the world, that's just...wow... As for Yamcha I like him, he tried to save the world so that makes him a hero in my book. Gohan was a kid. Bulma didnt drag Goku out and Grandpa Gohan sheltered him too to he was 10+. Frieza didnt even have Vegetas fighting saibamen and purging to he was 10+. Gohan was 5 and had been kidnapped twice, left in a jungle, fought in battle with 4 deaths, and went in space.

Anyways, I'm talking about the more extreme character-bashing stuff like Chi-Chi being a heartless ***** who treats Goku like trash, and only cares about Gohan's education or being a selfish harpy who ruined Gohan's childhood and potential as a warrior. Latin fans seem less hostile towards her though. Now let's talk about Yamcha

FireFox Favourite Manga Sailor Moon	Goku is stated 12 during the 21st budokai which is 5 years after training with Roshi. Unless he didn't train that long with Roshi in the manga. Edit: I just re watched the episode and I heard wrong all this time, Goku is 11 or 12 when Dragonall starts. Edited by miguelnuva, Oct 19 2012, 11:08 PM.

As far as Chi Chi goes, I get what you're saying, but I think the "hate" for her comes down to boys being boys. Most of us watched DBZ at a young age, most of us are guys, and we sympathised with Gohan. The last thing we wanted to hear was "DO YOUR HOMEWORK", "GET AN EDUCATION". Google Chrome and Firefox	I'm glad I was one of the only people growing up that enjoyed Chichi very much because I read more about the basis of her character. I liked her attitude too. I don't really care what people think about me liking her anymore. Every time I post on youtube about Chichi, to defend her, I end up getting top comments. I don't know why she is hated even in the anime. There are plenty of scenes to show that she is supportive of Gohan when he fights. Maybe one day I'll do a contemplation of all those scenes so people can STFU already about her being annoying. Why Chichi is cool; 1. She is the Ox King's daughter. The daughter of a man who is extremely tall and murdered a couple of people. She probably witnessed some of this and somehow MANAGED to have a pure heart. If you don't remember, there were skulls in fire mountain. 2. Technically, the first female to train under the turtle hermit style school. 3. Probably the first female in the martial arts tournament that didn't use her good looks to beat some ***. 4. Trained Goten 5. Princess Iron Fan is beast in Journey to the West 6. Wore the famous uniform of Ultra Man when she was a little girl 7. Doesn't back down from a fight even if she is outmatched. She has more balls than some of the other fighters. Those are just some of them. As for Yamcha, people hate him because they see him as the loser of the anime. I thought he was cool especially with his wolf fang fist. Maybe he just turned 12 when he met Bulma. And Gohan was 4 when he was introduced to Bulma and Krillin. He was 5 at the Saiyan battle and when he went to Namek. Vegeta was taken young, but he is shown fighting Saiyan as a 10 year old. He also had Nappa as his guard as well as Raditz. Gohan belonged in preschool according to their culture so yeah chi chi should've been pissed. --- And for everything she may have said wrong in the anime, she also was the one standing up and cheering her *** off for Gohan vs Vegeta screaming fight him. She was the one who accepted him going to Namek. She promoted him training 3 years with the guy who kidnapped him without her permission and the deadbeat dad who hasn't earned a cent for them and decided to skip out on them for a year to chill on another planet. She let him go into ROSAT which would age him a year and force her to miss out on more of him growing up. She supported him versus Cell. She let him be Saiyaman and taught Goten to fight.
